Rare rangers eschew roaming through the loam and across mountains, and instead make the cityscape their territory. By trading certain wilderness skills, spells, and abilities the urban ranger instead turns their focus to navigating a city's streets and understanding its people.

Urban Tracking

This feature modifies your existing Favored Enemy class feature.

When you are pursuing a favored enemy through an urban environment you gain advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks made to gather information about your foe and identify their location, habits, or recent history. This feature works like using Wisdom (Survival) to track your target, but relies on gathering information from crowds and contacts, and thus can only be used in populous areas. You no longer gain advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track your favored enemy.

When you select humanoids as your favored enemy and choose a sub-type you may choose three sub-types of humanoid rather than two. If you have already selected humanoids as your favored enemy you may immediately choose your third humanoid sub-type.

At 11th level when you are tracking a favored enemy or in your favored terrain you ignore difficult terrain caused by urban hazards like rubble, tight passageways, crowds, or broken windows. As well, you can climb at your normal movement speed rather than half your speed as normal.

Mortal Touch

You have developed a knack of knowing precisely who and what you are dealing with. When you touch a creature for one round you can determine its creature type (such as beast, humanoid (dwarf), aberration, or fiend). If the creature is using a mundane or magical disguise you gain this information as well. If the creature is polymorphed or otherwise has had its shape changed you are aware of this fact but do not know the creature's original type.

As well, when you use your Primeval Awareness class feature you can choose to limit the range of your senses to 500 ft. rather than 1 mile or 6 miles if you are in your favored terrain.

Urban Magic

You gain additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Urban Magic Spells table. Each spell counts as a ranger spell for you and does not count against your number of ranger spells known.

Urban Magic Spells

Kit Proficiency

You gain proficiency with either the disguise kit or thieves' tools.

Disguise Kit Proficiency

Your are proficient with the disguise kit.

Thieves' Tools Proficiency

You are proficient with thieves' tools.

Crowd Combatant

You have become deft at combat in crowded areas. Opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage. In addition if an opportunity attack made against you misses your armor class by 5 or more you may use your reaction to make an attack against your attacker in return.

Hit and Run

At 11th level you gain the ability to take advantage of shortcuts and terrain in combat. When you hit a creature with an attack you can immediately move up to 10 ft. without provoking opportunity attacks and without expending any movement. During this movement you do not treat non-hostile creatures' spaces as difficult terrain. You cannot use this feature if your movement speed is 0 ft.

If you attack at least two different creatures with your Attack action you can make one additional attack with it against a third creature.

City Stride

At 15th level you gain the ability to traverse a city in the blink of an eye. You can cast dimension door once, and regain the ability to cast it after finishing a long rest.

You also gain the ability to create a personal rune that you can create by spending 1 minute and marking it on a wall, ceiling, or object no smaller than 6 inches on a side. You can have a number of personal runes active at any time equal to your proficiency bonus. If you use dimension door using this feature and end your teleportation in a square adjacent to one of your personal runes you immediately regain the use of this feature without needing to finish a long rest.
